To Be Completed | Reading List

I love reading but there are times when I can’t bring myself to finish a certain book or book series. Not because I don’t like plot or writing but simply because I can’t get in the right mood to pick the book up again.

My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick: I started this book probably a year ago and I can’t seem to finish it. I always try to pick it back up but I just can’t get involved in the story. I don’t know if it’s the writing or story because I’m having a hard time wanting to read it.

Delirium Series (Pandemonium and Requiem) by Lauren Oliver: I think this series is very underrated and doesn’t get the hype it deserves. I listened to the audiobook of Delirium during a time when I was walking a lot but since I don’t do as much walking it’s hard for me to find the time to listen to an audiobook. I really would love to get back into this world because I find it very fascinating.

The Amber Spyglass (His Dark Materials #3) by Philip Pullman: This is the third and finial novel in the His Dark Materials trilogy or The Golden Compass trilogy as it is better known. The reason I haven’t picked this book up is that it is long. I remember liking the first two novels a lot but with the newer more inventive books series coming out these books have just kind of fell by the wayside. I will most likely finish off the series but probably not any time soon.

Heist Society (Uncommon Criminals and Perfect Scoundrels) by Ally Carter: I love my contemporary books and these books are very easy middle grade reads. I really need to read the last to books in the series since they are the type of books you can finish within a day or two. I actually forgot about this trilogy which might just be why I haven’t completed it yet.

The Summer I Turned Pretty (It’s Not Summer without You and We’ll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han: Anyone who knows me knows I love Jenny Han! Her books are amazing but after reading the Summer I Turned Pretty I didn’t want to continue with the series because I couldn’t stand Belly; the main character in the books. However, I will not be picking these books up until June or July since that seems like the most appropriate time to read this series and I have heard some great things about these books.

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver: There is probably no surprise that this is on the list since it has been the ghost of my tbr for the past, and now three months. I have transitioned from book to audiobook so I hope I can once and for all add it to my read pile over spring break.

There you have it the books on my to be completed list. There aren’t many which is kind of nice but I do hope to get to some of them this year.

February TBR | 2017

I know we are almost done with the month but I wanted to share my February TBR. Like last month I have only four books on my TBR list for the month. Since this month is Valentine’s Day most of the books I picked are romance novels.

Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins: This is the last book in the Anna and the French Kiss series. I am so excited to finish this series but I haven’t heard that many good this about this book.

P.S. I Like You by Kasie West: When I heard the plot of this book I knew that I had to read it. It is about a boy and girl that start exchange anonymous letters to each. It sounds like such a cute love story with an old school kind of twist to it.

My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows: I don’t know much about this story but I have heard it is a pretty funny story. However, I have seen very mixed reviews on this book so I’m interested in seeing what I think about it. This is the first in a series but the next book doesn’t come out until 2018 so if I do end up liking it I’ll have to wait a while to continue on with the series.

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver: I am going to try my best to finish this audiobook since it has been on my tbr for two months now.

Reading Wrap-Up | January 2017

Now that’s its February it is time to do my January wrap up. I didn’t do two bad in the month of January since I finished reading 3 out of the 4 books on my tbr for the month. Below are my thoughts on the books that I read and my rating for them.

This is What Happiness Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith: I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars. I liked the concept but I couldn’t get behind the writing. It was very slow pace and the love story wasn’t captivating. I know this is the first book in a series yet I not sure I’ll be picking up the second book.

Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins: I gave this book 3.5 out of 5 stars. I love Perkins is writing which is why I was what I consider generous in its rating. Honestly, I didn’t like the man character in this book which is a bummer since I loved, the first book in the series, Anna and the French Kiss. I didn’t feel like the book was relatable at all and it just frustrated me to no end.

Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen: I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars. It was actually a sad tale about a brother and sisters love for one another. It was a quick read and a good story but was nothing like Frozen.

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver: I started this book and are halfway through, but I had to put it down because I just wasn’t into the writing or story. I decided to get it on audio book and hope to finish it in February. So far I am not a fan of the story or main character but hopefully that will change.

There you have it my January book wrap-up. Let me know in the comments below if you want a review on any of these books. Also, don’t forget to follow the blog for more post.

2017 Reading Goals

Since it is a New Year which is normally a time for setting goals. I thought I’d share my book related resolutions with you guys.

Read 50 Books: My Goodreads challenge for the year is to read at least fifty books which I think is totally do able. I am not a fast reader so I didn’t want to set a goal of like 100 books and get overwhelmed.

Finish Series: I want to finish at least 2 book series I have started if not all of them. A lot of times I’ll start a series and won’t finish it because I’m not in the mood. I want actually finish most of the series that I have started this year.

Read Classics: I want to start reading more classic books. I love my YA novels but I want to read more traditional novels. Classic fairy tales, Jane Austin, Charles Dickens and such.

Start a Popular Series: I want to start and hopefully finish a popular book series. I’m kind of embarrassed to admit I’ve never read the entire Harry Potter series, Divergent, Hunger Games and tons more.

Read at Least One Non-Fiction Book: I’m not big into biographies but I want to set out of my comfort zone this year by reading some non-fiction books.

Those are all my reading goals for the year. I would love to know your goals reading or otherwise in the comments below.

January TBR | 2017

I am so excited to be starting off this blog for the new year. I wanted to start this blog by sharing my January tbr. I don’t have that many books because I don’t want to overwhelm myself but I think I have some great reads for the month.

This is What Happiness Looks like by Jennifer E. Smith: This story follow a boy and a girl who start talking via email but the girl soon comes to find out that the boy is actually a movie star when he starts showing his next film in her small town.

I started this book last year but only read the first three chapters. I am trying to start off the year by finishing any books that I have left unfinished, which is probably like 5 books or so. Also, I love contemporary reads so I’m sure I’ll get through this pretty quickly.

Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins: Honestly, all I know is that it is the second book in the Anna and the French Kiss series. I read Anna and the French Kiss last year at this time so I’m excited to pick up the next book in the series.

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver: I heard about this book a while ago then saw the trailer for the movie that is coming out in February and knew that I had to read the book.

I believe it is about a girl that gets into a car accident with her friends but wakes up the next day and has to repeat the day she died.

The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen: I want to start getting into classic books and fairytales. And since its winter I thought this would be an appropriate read. All I know is that it is the story that Disney’s Frozen is based off. I’m thinking of getting the audiobook version and listening to it instead of reading it.

There you have it my January TBR! I will be doing a wrap up post and of course reviews on the books that I read this month. Below are the Goodreads links to each of the books mentioned above.
